H&M orange faux fur coat (similar), Marks & Spencer caramel cashmere jumper, Urban Outfitters black straight leg jeans, &Other Stories pointed chelsea boots + ASOS black baker boy hat (similar).
Faux fur coats have been all over the place the past couple of winters and no more so than this season with what seems like every colour of the rainbow available. With so many colours and different style of jackets, it’s a wonder it took me this long before I got my grubby mitts on one. Especially considering how blooming warm they are.
I was actually looking for a teddy coat that I have yet to find in a perfect burnt caramel shade, specific I know. I was in H&M on the hunt for said teddy coat and this bold little gem was tucked away in the back alongside one other faux fur in a different colour immediately drew me in and had me dropping my bag and try it on. This is actually hugely oversized for me, I think it’s a Uk 14. I did have a proper root around the store to try and find a smaller size but couldn’t so took this one to the till anyway where the girl at the check out said this could only be a return item because these sold out instantly once they hit the shop floor originally.
There’s no sign of this coat in this beautiful burnt orange colour on the H&M website, although there is a black version! I’ve managed to find a few other versions that are similar, but it’s definitely worth a quick whip around your nearest H&M to see if you can spy one hiding.
Despite it being oversized, it doesn’t feel bulky, just slightly slouchy in shape. It’s near on perfect for me, I love that I can snuggle into it, as is the dog who uses me as a huge human blanket whenever I wear this. It’s also large enough to fit all my heaviest layers underneath, not that I particularly need it with how warm it is. And that’s the appeal of the faux fur jackets, they are so all-encompassing in their ability to keep you warm that any spring-like outfit is available because this outer layer will keep me toasty.
I absolutely love the colour, it’s this crazy burnt orange, almost copper shade that looks incredible in life and insanely vibrant in photos. It’s such a fun piece to style, I tend to wear more muted colours and simple items with it because really no one is looking at anything other than the coat. And I’m ok with that! I’ve got on my straight leg jeans with my pointed Chelsea boots, a caramel cashmere jumper and of course, a baker boy hat. A simple look underneath and a loud shout of colour on top!
