Missing Buttons + Walks Through Manchester

Vintage cream wool peacoat (similar), Aubin & Wills cream high neck knit jumper (similar), Urban Outfitters straight leg jeans + ASOS pointed boots.

We went on a grand walk around Manchester with this outfit, we had the Manchester library in mind for photos but we also wanted to see where else we could find some good city backdrops for future posts and because it’s nice to get to know your city a little better. Foolishly we went out around lunchtime so everywhere was packed and so we ended up doing a big loop round Manchester through all the side streets and finding so many areas of Manchester many little streets we didn’t know and so so many beautiful building.

To begin with, though we started in the Northern Quarter and did a big loop around Affleck’s Palace looking for a haberdashery that may have been there at one point in Afflecks Palace’s life but isn’t anymore. Affleck’s Palace is a huge building full of loads of independent shops and has been in Manchester for the longest time. We were trying to find buttons for this coat, they 100% need replacing but it’s finding the right ones or at this point, a store that even sells buttons would be a good start. The quest continues and it may end up continuing online. It honestly feels like an endless quest. The coat is vintage and I want to find buttons that work well with the cream wool while being in keeping with its seventies style.

Underneath the coat with only half its buttons was my chunky cable knit jumper from Aubin and Wills, not sure if this brand is even around anymore but this was a marvellous purchase. Its the warmest, chunkiest knit I own and the quality is incredible, I just have to be careful when I wear it because it keeps the heat in like no other and I generally end up overheating in it. I’ll try and find something similar below. I’ve got my red crossbody Zara bag, super old that you cant really see but there’s a gold chain poking through on some of the pictures.

On my bottom half, I’ve got the best straight leg jeans I’ve managed to find ever, the Axyl style jeans from Urban Outfitters. These suit my shape so well and I love the washed out black wash. They are a 32 leg which fits my height wonderfully, the hem of the jean finishing at my ankles. Worn with some old metallic pointed boots from ASOS, in hindsight not the greatest footwear to do a three-hour walk around town in but pretty to look at.
